Highlights
As in past conferences, a mix of students, faculty, staff, and administrators attended from institutions across the state. Close to 100 attendees registered. The conference consisted of a mix of plenary speeches and concurrent presentations. The following plenary speakers were featured:
Amanda Little, author of Power Trip: From Oil Wells to Cells—Our Ride to the Renewable Future;
Richard Rhoda, Executive Director of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission;
Paul Rowland, Executive Director of the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education;
Renee LaFrenze, project manager for Green Campus Program (based
in California)
Presentations were made in concurrent tracks devoted to Academics/Teaching; Climate Change/Energy; andOperations. It is clear that Tennessee higher education is advancing toward sustainability and conferences like this can facilitate the learning process considerably.
